Corona Vaccine Booster Dose: Dr Ajay Parida, director of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), has suggested that people with low antibodies may be given a booster dose.
Despite getting the corona vaccine, antibodies against the virus are not being prepared in 20 percent of the people. In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, about 23 percent of the faculty members of a research unit were administered two doses of the vaccine, yet the antibody level was found to be negative. Dr Ajay Parida, director of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), has suggested that people with low antibodies may be given a booster dose. The World Health Organization (WHO) has currently banned the booster dose, but it is expected that the booster dose of the vaccine can be given the green signal soon.
What is booster dose? Think of the booster dose as if you have completed a course, but over time an upgrade has been added to it. In the case of the vaccine, understand that after taking 2 doses, you have completed the course, but a booster dose should be given to further boost the antibodies made in the body. At present, people are being given mostly 2-dose corona vaccine.
According to experts, both the doses of corona vaccine that are being given will be called prime dose and the dose which will be given after a certain time will be called booster dose. At present, a booster dose is required in many vaccines for children, so that antibodies against the said disease do not weaken in the children’s body.

Booster doses work in a special way, which is called immunological memory. Our immune system remembers the dose of vaccine that the body has already received. Now after a certain time the booster dose of the vaccine that will be given will alert our immune system immediately, antibodies will increase in the body and our immune system will start working better against that disease.
For different diseases, booster doses are required at different time intervals. For example, for whooping cough, children get a booster dose early, while according to WHO, for tetanus, a booster dose is necessary at 10 years. In many cities, people take the flu vaccine almost every year on the advice of a doctor. At present, it is not decided that if a booster dose of the vaccine is approved for corona, then in how many days it will be necessary in the case of corona.
