Due to lack of space for cremation in crematoriums, the Government of Karnataka has decided to allow cremation on family-owned farms and lands as well.
The Corona Pandemic has made the situation in the country such that people are also finding places at crematoriums (Crematorium) for the hospitalization of their loved ones or for the cremation of dead people. The corpses have been piled up amidst the rising havoc of the corona, leaving many cremation ghats with no room for cremation. A similar frightening picture was also seen in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where officials of a crematorium in Chamarajapet have put a ‘houseful’ signboard outside due to lack of space for cremation of dead bodies.
After taking 20 bodies, it has been written on the board that no more bodies will be taken for cremation. There are 13 electric crematoriums in Bangalore and all of them are running ‘full’ due to increase in cases of corona infection. Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has allotted 230 acres of land around Bengaluru to the Bruhat Bengaluru Municipal Corporation (BBMP) to use the option of ‘burial in the ground’ due to lack of space for cremation in the city’s crematoriums.
