Rescue operations are underway for the last 24 hours to rescue an 11-year-old boy who fell into a dry borewell in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district. Oxygen arrangement inside the borewell
In fact, Rahul Sahu fell in a dry borewell while playing in the back part of the house on Friday afternoon in Pihrid village of Malkharoda block of Janjgir-Champa. Rahul is trapped 60 to 70 feet below in the borewell. Janjgir Champa DM Jitendra Shukla said that the district and police administration got information about Rahul falling in the borewell on Friday afternoon and rescue work was started immediately. He told that NDRF and SDRF have been called to help in getting Rahul out. At the same time, the team of doctors has arranged for Rahul to deliver oxygen inside the borewell.
Trying to get Rahul out by making a tunnel
The DM said that at some distance from the borewell, a parallel pit is being made with the help of JCB and other machines. An attempt will be made to get Rahul out of this pit by making a tunnel. He said that about 50 feet of pit has been done so far and this work may take another five to six hours. He told that a camera has been installed with the help of a rope in the borewell to find out the condition of Rahul. Rahul stirred till around 12 o’clock last night, after which he stirred in the morning. According to the doctors present there, Rahul’s condition is fine. However, with the passage of time, some signs of weakness are also showing in it. Banana and juice have been delivered to Rahul with the help of a rope in the borewell and the family members are also raising their voice, so that his morale is maintained.

According to the boy’s father Lala Ram Sahu, some time ago he had dug a borewell of about 80 feet deep for the vegetable garden in the rear part of the house. When the water in the borewell did not come out, it was left unused. While playing in Bari on Friday, Rahul fell into this dry, open borewell. At the same time, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed all the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to get the open borewell closed to prevent such an accident.
