On Sunday, 52 goats, including three persons, died in separate incidents of lightning strikes in three districts of Chhattisgarh.

52 goats died on the spot
Gariaband Superintendent of Police JR Thakur said Dhankhar was grazing goats near Sahaspur village when it started raining and he took shelter under a big tree and also brought the animals there. He told that he and 52 goats died on the spot due to lightning. At the same time, lightning struck Mungeli when Sukhdev Khande (23) was removing grass from his field in Thakurikapa village, due to which he died on the spot. In another incident, a 40-year-old woman, Anita Sahu, died due to lightning while she was sowing paddy in the field in Rohasi village of Balodabazar district.
Announcement of compensation of Rs 4 lakh
Meanwhile, an official statement said that state Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief over these incidents and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the kin of the deceased.
