Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited four hospitals in the capital Raipur and met the injured soldiers in an encounter with the Naxalites. In an encounter between security forces and Naxalites near Jongaguda and Tekalguda villages in Bijapur and Sukma districts of the state, 22 security forces personnel were killed and 31 were injured.
Senior police officials of the state said that out of the injured soldiers, 13 jawans were admitted to hospitals in Raipur and 18 others were admitted to the hospital in Bijapur. State Public Relations Department officials said that Union Home Minister Shah and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel reached Ramakrishna Care Hospital, Shri Narayana, Shri Balaji and NH MMI Hospital to know the skills of the injured soldiers. Officials said that Shah and Baghel met the jawans undergoing treatment here and wished them a speedy recovery by encouraging them.
Senior police officials said that the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister had a discussion with the hospital management about the health status of the jawans and directed them to ensure better treatment. During this time the state’s Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu and Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat were present. Officials said that Shah had left for Delhi after meeting the jawans in the hospitals.

Earlier, the Union Home Minister reached Jagdalpur airport in Bastar district in the morning by a special aircraft of the Border Security Force. During this, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and senior officers of the Central and State Forces were present. Shah and Baghel reached the police line from the airport where they paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. After this, the Union Home Minister reached the CRPF camp located in Basaguda in Naxal-affected Bijapur district by helicopter. There he interacted with CRPF and police personnel and had a meal with them.
22 soldiers killed and 31 other injured

The dead include seven personnel of the Cobra Battalion of CRPF, one soldier of Bastariya Battalion of CRPF, eight personnel of DRG and six personnel of STF. At the same time, a young man is still missing. The missing jawan is being searched.
