More than 400 horses and mules died in Chardham Yatra so far

According to the information, since the opening of the doors of Chardham in the state, more than 400 horses and mules have died in just 23 days. It is being told that in the high Himalayan region, only hot water is given to the horse and mule so that they can face the cold. But this time due to lack of arrangement of geysers at the footpaths, hot water is not available for them. Due to this, horses and mules are dying due to lack of water. According to the information, arrangement of geysers has been done at two places on the 5 km foot route in Yamunotri Dham and horse-mule is getting enough hot water there. Therefore, there have been fewer cases of death of experts there. Only 25 horse-mules have died there since May 3.

According to the information, to reach Kedarnath, a distance of 16 km has to be covered from Gaurikund and there is no arrangement of drinking water for the animals in this journey. However, in the past, hot water tanks were made by the administration at the footpaths. But now they are closing due to lack of maintenance. Due to which horses and mules are drinking without water or a little bit of icy water. Due to this the death of experts is coming to the fore. There is a movement of five to six thousand horse-mules every day on the Kedarnath footpath and 40 percent of the devotees reach Kedarnath by horse-mule. But despite that there is neither water nor fodder for the animals there.

State Animal Husbandry Department Director Dr. Prem Kumar said that due to narrow roads in Kedarnath and Yamunotri, horse and mule are facing difficulties in walking. Horse and mule sweat a lot and need water. But due to the icy water of the animal, gas is formed in the stomach of the horse-mule and due to this, severe pain arises. Due to which death is taking place.
