The Congress on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government should answer that the 70 days left before the end of 2021, after the number of doses given in the country crossed 100 crores. How will all adults in the country be fully immunized within The party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also claimed that people’s wounds are not going to be healed by celebrating and this government cannot escape the responsibility of killing lakhs of people due to its corona mismanagement.
Randeep Surjewala also said that the government should constitute a ‘Corona Inquiry Commission’ to investigate the negligence of the Narendra Modi government and re-survey the dead and give proper compensation to the victims’ families. The Congress General Secretary told reporters, ‘We express our gratitude to the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, hospitals. The whole country is grateful to him for 100 crore doses.
‘Government is busy patting itself on the back’
The Congress spokesperson claimed, “Prime Minister Modi ji and his government are once again masquerading as patting themselves on the back. Modi government should know that celebrating is not going to heal wounds. The time has come to demand accountability for putting the lives of the countrymen at risk due to the incompetence and criminal negligence of the Modi government.
He said, ‘When will 74 crore adult Indians of the country be given 106 crore doses? There are 103 crore adults in the country. Of these, 29 crore people have been given both doses of anti-corona vaccines. That is, 42 crore people have been given one dose. This means that there are 32 crore adults who have not been given a single dose till date.
Surjewala targeted the Prime Minister
Surjewala said, ‘The Prime Minister had said that by December 31, 2021, both the doses will be given to all adults. Now 70 days are left. This means that at present 1.51 crore doses should be given daily. But for the last six days, an average of 39 lakh doses were given daily. We want to know how 106 crore doses will be given in 70 days?’
He alleged, ‘When the people of the country were suffering from corona, were desperate for oxygen, lakhs of rupees were being taken for essential medicines, there were no beds in hospitals, at such a time the BJP government had left the countrymen helpless.’ Significantly, the figure of doses given so far of anti-COVID-19 vaccines in the country crossed 100 crores on Thursday. The vaccination campaign in the country was started on 16 January.
