Earlier in the morning, the Government of Maharashtra and Anil Deshmukh filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding the cancellation of the order of the CBI investigation on the allegations of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Paramvir Singh. It has been said in the petition that the Central Government is making political use of the CBI. Two important questions have been raised in the petitions of both the state government and Anil Deshmukh.
The first question is that without hearing Anil Deshmukh, the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI inquiry, no order can be given unilaterally. The second question is that the CBI itself is in the circle of questions. The central government is using the CBI politically. An interim director is looking after the work of the CBI, so what is the rationale for giving investigation to the CBI. Does the High Court not trust the state government’s investigation. It has also been said in the petition that Anil Deshmukh has resigned from his post and there is no reason that he will be able to interfere in any investigation of the state government.
