Three people including two models were killed in a car accident in Kerala. The Crime Branch of Kerala Police, which is probing the case on Tuesday, has claimed that the arrested interior designer Saiju Thankachen was allegedly dealing in drugs. Ansi Kabir, 25, and Anjana Shajan, 24, died in the accident on November 1.

The accused Saiju Thankachen, who claimed to be an interior designer, had chased the two women after leaving the hotel where a DJ party was held. It is also suspected that Thankachen has drug dealings and despite having only a diploma in interior design, has a lavish lifestyle and was driving an Audi car. While both the models died instantly, the third passenger died a few days later, while the driver was injured.

CCTV footage missing from hotel

Sources said that the police have recovered Thankachen’s mobile phone and it has been found that he has relations with several young women. The police will now call the women whose pictures were found in his mobile phone. Later the police investigation team also arrested the driver. The case, which could have been passed off as an accident case, took a turn when the police learned that CCTV footage had gone missing from the hotel where the DJ party took place.

Later, the police arrested the owner of the hotel – Roy J. Violtin and five of his staff members were arrested on the grounds that the footage had been destroyed, but they were all out on bail within 24 hours. Even though the police made three attempts to recover the hard disk, which the owner said was dumped in a nearby backwater, the hard disk was not recovered. If it comes to the fore, the police will register more cases against Saiju.

Sent to three days police custody

Saiju was arrested on the basis of the statement of the victim (Abdul Rehman). He was booked under IPC sections 354-D (pursuing) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) which read with 109 (if abetted act is done in consequence). On Tuesday, a local court sent Saiju to police custody for three more days.
