A girl has been arrested from Uttarakhand in the Bulli Bai app case.
An 18-year-old girl has been arrested by the Mumbai Police in connection with the investigation of ‘Bulli Bai’ app in Rudrapur city of Uttarakhand. The pictures of Muslim women were shared on the Bulli Bai app and they were told for “auction”. A top police officer of Uttarakhand has confirmed this. The app is believed to be a clone of ‘Sully Deals’, which sparked controversy after its arrival last year.
This is the second arrest by the Cyber Police of Mumbai in the Bully Bye App case. Earlier, Vishal Kumar, a second year civil engineering student, was detained by the police from Bengaluru on Monday. After this, he was formally arrested and presented in the court on Tuesday. From where, the court sent him to police custody till January 10. At the same time, the lawyer of the accused said that he is being falsely implicated in this case.
The accused girl was produced before a local court in Udham Singh Nagar district, which issued a transit remand to take the accused to Mumbai. The girl is a 12th pass student. A police officer from the district said that the police team and the girl are still in Uttarakhand and are waiting for the women police officers to come from Mumbai.
Uttarakhand Police did not inquire
The exact role of the girl in the case is still unclear. Senior police officials in Mumbai declined to give any details about his alleged role. Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar confirmed the girl’s arrest, but insisted that the state police was not part of the team that interrogated the girl. “Uttarakhand Police did not interrogate the accused as investigation is being done only by Mumbai Police and it knows about the details of the case,” he said. He further said, “There was not a single woman constable in the Mumbai Police team, so we have helped them by sending a woman constable along with them.”
A senior police officer said that the Mumbai Police team reached Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district around noon. He said, “They sought our help to arrest the accused, which we provided. The team then produced him in a local court to seek transit remand to take him to Mumbai for questioning.”
