There is good news for the farmers of Bihar. A big decision has been taken by the Bihar government in this regard on Thursday. In fact, a meeting of the Project Monitoring Committee of Bihar Agriculture Investment Promotion Policy was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Dr. N. Saravan Kumar, Secretary, Bihar Agriculture Department. In which a big decision has been taken. In the meeting, industries based on 10 agricultural products have been approved within the state. At the same time, four schemes have also been approved in the field of fruit-vegetables and maize processing to get capital grant under the provisions of Bihar Agricultural Investment Promotion Policy.
This policy helps in increasing the processing, storage, value addition and export of Makhana, Honey, Maize, Fruits and Vegetables, Seeds, Tea, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, so that farmers can get a fair price for the produce. At the same time, the policy is helping to generate more employment opportunities by promoting agro-based industries.
52 Projects Approved
Giving information about the meeting, Secretary, Bihar Agriculture Department said that a total of 52 projects have been approved by the entrepreneurs related to agriculture in the seven sectors identified for Bihar Agriculture Investment Promotion. In which 25 based on maize processing, 8 based on seed processing, 5 based on makhana, 9 based on fruit and vegetable, 3 based on honey processing, one project each based on medicinal and aromatic plants and tea processing has been dedicated, with a total cost of Rs 317 crore. . Nand Kishore, Director Horticulture, Finance Department, Industries Department, representatives of NABARD, APEDA, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour and members of Technical Support Group, including officers of Horticulture Directorate participated in this meeting.
The Bihar Agriculture Department is working to promote investment in agro-processing in Bihar with the aim of creating a favorable environment for seven crops under the agro-investment promotion policy in the state. The Horticulture Department has been made the nodal agency for the implementation of this policy. In fact, in order to increase the level of production and processing of various crops, reduce costs, boost export prospects and expand capacity, the Government of Bihar started the Bihar Agricultural Investment Promotion Policy Scheme in September 2020.
Up to 25 percent subsidy is available under the scheme
This policy encourages agro-processing investors including farmer producer companies in Bihar. Also, this policy provides credit linked capital subsidy up to 15 percent of the project cost to eligible individual units and 25 percent of the project cost (minimum Rs 25 lakh and maximum Rs 5 crore) to FPCs.
