The project, which is considered very important for South Gujarat, was being opposed by the tribal community for the past several days. Two months ago, the Gujarat government had decided to postpone this scheme. Then state Finance Minister Kanu Desai had announced the suspension of the scheme in the Gujarat Assembly. The main reason for opposing this plan on behalf of the tribal community was the fear that due to this scheme their land would be snatched.
First postponed, now canceled plan
After the opposition to this plan, a meeting was held under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of State for Irrigation and Tribal MPs-MLAs of Gujarat and it was decided to postpone the scheme for two months. Now after a long discussion, it has been decided to cancel this plan.
