According to police sources, some people in Rajapur area had come from Jalalpur village of Raj police station area of Kaushambi district to attend the wedding ceremony. At around 6:30 pm, 9 people went to Tulsi Ghat of Yamuna river for boating. During this, everyone boarded a small boat. Suddenly the boat got unbalanced in the river and got stuck in the vortex and later overturned. Nuri Khan aboard the boat showed courage and saved many people, including 8-year-old Yana Khan and 10-year-old Rosie. Noori took everyone swimming to the edge of the ghat.
The flow of the river is also very fast and there is a whirlpool in between.
After the accident, Nishad, who steered four boats, also jumped into the river and started searching for the rest of the people who were drowned in the river. After several hours, many people, including 40-year-old Reshma, who hails from Satna in Madhya Pradesh, and 28-year-old Sajid Khan were rescued. People say that no rescue equipment has been installed on the ghat by the district administration. Tourists traveling here are at risk of drowning in the river.
