BharOS: On Tuesday, IIT Madras’ “BharOS,” an indigenous mobile operating system (OS), was reviewed by Union Ministers for Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The 100 crore mobile phone users in India might benefit from BharOS, according to the company that was developed at IIT Madras.

What is BharOS?
Ashwini Vaishnav said, “There will be difficulties in this journey and there are many people around the world who will bring difficulties and will not want any such system to be successful…”
JandK Operations Private Limited created BharOS, an indigenous operating system for India (JandKops). According to a report, the OS’s developers claim that it would provide users more freedom, power, and flexibility, which can only be customised to meet their demands. The technology asserts that it will fundamentally alter how consumers see security and privacy on mobile handhelds.
The “lightweight and bloatware-free” BharOS does not come pre-loaded with programmes, in contrast to the enormously popular Android OS. Android OEMs often bundle a few native Google applications by default with new Android devices.

Google and its battle with law
This change occurs when internet giant Google was compelled to permit independent app stores in the main Google Play Store. In addition to the penalties that will be required of it by the Supreme Court, the corporation has a few more days to comply with this.
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) ordered the technology giant to deposit 10% of the Rs 1,337.76 crore fine imposed on it by the competition watchdog Competition Commission of India (CCI) for alleged anti-competitive practises, and the apex court last week gave Google India one week to comply.
