Delhi Police said on Saturday that tight security arrangements have been made at the borders of the national capital in view of the Bharat Bandh called by the United Kisan Morcha on September 27 against the three controversial agricultural laws of the central government. The United Kisan Morcha, a mask organization of 40 farmer organizations participating in the farmers’ movement, appealed to the people to join the bandh on Thursday.

Tight security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order in the national capital on Monday in view of the bandh, a senior police official said. The police officer said that none of the protesters, who are protesting at three places on the city limits, will be allowed to enter Delhi. At the same time, another official said that security precaution has been taken and we are fully alert. Also said that there is no call for Bharat Bandh in Delhi, but we are keeping a watch on the developments and adequate number of security forces have been deployed.

Will be closed from 6 am to 4 pm

The United Kisan Morcha has also asked political parties to participate in their fight to uphold the principles of democracy and federalism. The United Kisan Morcha said that the bandh has been organized from 6 am to 4 pm. During this time all government and private offices, educational and other institutions, shops, industries and business establishments will remain closed. All emergency establishments, services, hospitals, drug shops, relief and rescue operations and people with personal emergencies have been excluded from the bandh.

This is the demand of farmers

Farmers across the country have been protesting at different places since November 26 last year against the three agricultural laws made by the central government. The farmers are demanding that the three laws should be withdrawn and they should be given a legal guarantee on the minimum support price for the crops. However, the government has consistently said that the new laws are pro-farmer. Farmers leaders under the banner of SKM and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh have held several rounds of talks with the central government. But there has been no real breakthrough and the impasse still remains.
