West Bengal smuggler Death: Smugglers have been accused of attacking BSF personnel on the border adjacent to Murshidabad, West Bengal. An Indian smuggler has died in the subsequent firing.

BSF officials say that to smuggle Phensedyl forcibly, a group of smugglers have used BSF (BSF) attacked the jawan, after which an Indian smuggler was killed by the soldiers in retaliation during the encounter. The name of the dead smuggler has been told as Rohil Mandal. He was identified as Father Sahabuddin Mandal, Village- Ramnarayanpara, District- Murshidabad. 532 Phensedyl bottles have also been seized from the smugglers.
In a statement issued by the BSF, it has been told that the incident took place in the area of Border Post Sagarpara, 141st Corps on Sunday morning. After this incident, security has been tightened at the border.
Smugglers attacked the border, one died in retaliation
In a statement issued by the BSF, it has been told that the soldiers had already increased the ambush and patrol in the area, taking action on the strong and accurate information of the BSF’s intelligence department. The jawan on duty around 3 in the morning suspected the activity of 10-15 smugglers in his area, then he immediately informed the fellow jawan and the patrol team. After some time, the smugglers started attacking and pelting stones on the jawan. On this the soldiers also started retaliatory action. The jawan first tried to drive away the smugglers with a non-lethal weapon, but it had no effect on the smugglers. After which he had to use his weapon for his life. In which an Indian smuggler got piled up.
BSF claims – soldiers fired for self-defense
The BSF officer said that the jawan first tried to stop and drive away the smugglers by firing non-lethal weapons (non-lethal) in self-defence, but it did not affect them. In the end, in order to protect life and property, he was forced to fire with a personal weapon, due to which the smuggler was killed by the bullet. At the same time, on hearing the sound of fire, the rest of the smugglers fled taking advantage of the darkness, leaving the injured partner.
Family members allege BSF
On the other hand, the relatives of the deceased claim that Rohit Mandal had gone to work on the jute land in the border area in the morning. He was not involved in any other smuggling or such activities. However, BSF personnel shot him on the basis of suspicion of smuggling. The family members are demanding proper punishment from the BSF after the investigation of the incident. According to family sources, Mandal got married just two months back. As a result, mourning falls on the whole family.
