Anup Manjhi or Lala, accused in the Coal Smuggling Scam, has again got relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court on Tuesday has directed that the CBI will not be able to arrest till 13 April. Earlier this relief was for till 6 April. Today, during the hearing of this case, the Supreme Court has given this instruction.
Let me tell you that the ED had attached Lala’s property worth Rs 165.86 crore yesterday in the coal scam. Yesterday, the CBI had questioned three people including Anoop Manjhi alias Lala in the coal smuggling case in Kolkata office. Anoop Manjhi was questioned for the fourth time. The CBI is constantly questioning Lala, but now whether the CBI will inquire after the Supreme Court has given relief. The CBI is in consultation with the legal team in this regard. It is being considered whether the CBI will appeal to the Chief Justice’s court against this instruction of the Supreme Court.
Investigation agencies are constantly interrogating
On the other hand, Lala, accused of coal and cattle smuggling, has a turnover of around Rs 2,000 crore. The investigating agency is trying to ascertain to what extent the wires of the coal scam are connected. In this case, the CBI has also questioned Rujira Banerjee, wife of Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, her sister-in-law Maneka Gambhir and their relatives.

Police officer has also been arrested
CBI filed FIR against Manjhi Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) general manager Amit Kumar Dhar and Jayesh Chandra Rai, ECL’s security chief Tanmay Das, area security inspector Dhananjay Rai of Kunustoria and security in-charge of Cajor area and SSI Debashish Mukherjee in November last year. That is, PE was registered. In this case, the names of police officers are coming out in the coal scam. Bankura’s Circle Inspector Ashok Mishra has already been arrested.
