In this election, BJP fielded Mangla Angadi, wife of the late leader Suresh Angadi, while Satish Jarkiholi was contesting from the Congress.
In the Belgaum by-election of Karnataka, BJP candidate Mangla Angadi has won. Mangla Angadi defeated Congress candidate Satish Jarkiholi by 1622 votes. There was a fierce competition between these two candidates since morning. The by-election was held in Belgaum after the death of Union Minister Suresh Angadi. In this election, BJP fielded Mangla Angadi, wife of the late leader Suresh Angadi, while Satish Jarkiholi was contesting from the Congress. But Mangla Angadi won the election and won the BJP in Belgaum.
When the counting of votes started here on Sunday morning, there was a thorn collision between Angadi and Jarkiholi. The 26-year-old Shubham Shelke, who stood in the election here on behalf of Maharashtra Integration Committee, did not see any effect here. In support of Shubham Shelke, Shiv Sena also put all its strength. At the same time, in support of BJP candidate Mangla Angadi, the BJP had launched a full army of central leaders.
This by-election in Belgaum was also seen as BJP vs Shiv Sena due to being on the border of Maharashtra and the center of border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka for a long time. But by snatching victory from the Congress and Shiv Sena, Mangla Angadi of the BJP made his presence felt.
Shiv Sena’s strength could not stop in BJP-Congress battle
That is, in this fight between BJP and Congress, Shiv Sena’s emphasis was of no use. Shiv Sena could not leave any mark. By-elections have been held in 15 places in Karnataka including Belgaum. Whose victory is won in these places, everyone’s eyes are on them. The issue of border dispute related to Belgaum between Maharashtra and Karnataka has been going on for 70 years. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has formed a committee of two ministers to resolve the dispute, while Yeddyurappa has said not to give one inch of land.
It was being said that there is a good number of Marathi speaking people, in which Shiv Sena has a good influence. In such a situation, the idea of getting the benefit of Maharashtra Integration Committee candidate Shubham Shelke with the support of Shiv Sena proved to be wrong and Shubham Shelke left no impact.
