In view of the elections, the Urban Development Department has also started its preparations. It is being told that this time the Uttar Pradesh civic elections (civic elections) the number of wards is going to be more than the fixed standard. For this the Municipal Corporation (municipal corporations) Act 1959 and Municipal Council Act 1916 are going to be amended. For this, preparations are being made to pass a proposal from the cabinet soon and after that more wards can be made above the prescribed standard. According to the information, 10 to 15 wards can be increased in Municipal Corporations, 5 to 10 in Palika Parishads and five wards in Nagar Panchayats.
It is worth mentioning that the civic elections were held in the state in 2017. But the population of municipal corporations and municipalities of the state has also increased. After which there is a demand to increase the number of wards. Therefore, the government can now increase 15 wards in municipal corporations and 10 in municipal councils. According to the rules, according to the arrangement given in the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council, a maximum of 110 wards can be created in Municipal Corporations, 55 in Palika Parishad and 25 in Nagar Panchayats. At present, Lucknow and Kanpur Municipal Corporation have the maximum number of 110-110 wards in the state. But this time after increasing the number of new wards, their number may increase in the municipal corporation.
151 bodies to be delimited
According to the information, there is to be a fresh delimitation in 151 bodies of the state. The Urban Development Department has constituted 83 new Nagar Panchayats, two Nagar Palika Parishads and one Municipal Corporation. Apart from this, the boundaries of 36 Nagar Panchayats, 21 Nagar Palika Parishads and nine Municipal Corporations have also been expanded. According to the population, 10 to 15 wards are increasing in every body and that is why the bodies requested the government to change the old standard to increase the wards.
The scope of cities can increase
According to the information, the Urban Development Department can also increase the scope of cities. For this, the District Magistrates of many districts have sent a proposal to the Urban Development Department. If this happens, then the boundaries of many cities will be extended to other districts.
