On 30 May 1996, a letter from the then Prime Minister reached an influential MP in Tihar Jail. It was written in it, Dear Brij Bhushan ji, Saprem Namaskar. Remember Savarkar ji, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, read, listen to music, be happy, I will come soon. Don’t give up, don’t be afraid, don’t give name to Hari, be jahi vidhi rakhe ram, tahi vidhi. The name of the then Prime Minister who wrote the letter is Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atal, who ran the government for 13 days at the Center, became the Prime Minister for the first time, the MP to whom he wrote this very emotional and personal letter, his name is Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh, which was once the first political work ground of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the leader who guaranteed victory to BJP after Vajpayee in that seat, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and all this was certainly possible on the strength of that strength and power. Which we and you call Bahubali. In 1957, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was elected MP for the first time from Balrampur in UP. After that in 1998 and 1999, Congress’s Bahubali leader Rizwan Zaheer defeated the BJP candidate. There was a tinge in the minds of BJP leaders that the lotus was not blooming on Prime Minister Vajpayee’s first political seat. Finally, the party bet on a leader who was released from jail shortly before the 1999 Lok Sabha elections. BJP had played a big bet, the result of which no one knew.
CBI made accused in the case of demolition of disputed structure

According to the police, the shooter of underworld don Arun Gawli who was killed in JJ Hospital was the killer of Dawood’s brother-in-law. Dawood had sent Don Subhash Thakur and Brajesh Singh to take revenge. It was alleged that Kalpanath Rai and Brij Bhushan had helped the shooters sent by Dawood. However, Brij Bhushan got a clean chit in this serious allegation. After that he once again started showing the power of his muscle power in politics.
From the arena to the battlefield of politics
The color of Brij Bhushan’s arrogance was spread over fifty kilometers away. When he was lodged in Tihar Jail under TADA, his wife Ketki Devi contested from Gonda Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket. He surprised everyone by defeating Anand Singh of Congress by a huge margin of 80,000 votes. The BJP had realized that if the Balrampur seat is to be regained, then it has to bet on Brij Bhushan. In 1999, the party made him a candidate from Balrampur Lok Sabha.
Brij Bhushan Singh defeated Samajwad Party’s Bahubali leader Rizwan Zaheer, who won Balrampur Lok Sabha for two consecutive terms. He was once again victorious in the Balrampur Lok Sabha in 2004. It was the rise of a Bahubali leader in the Bharatiya Janata Party, who realized his power from the arena of wrestlers to the political arena. From wrestler to the president of the Indian Wrestling Association and from BJP to Samajwadi Party, Bahubali leader Brij Bhushan has proved himself every time the bahubali of the political world. There was an earthquake in the early days of his life.
House demolished in family enmity
He was very scared after the death of four brothers. There was always an unknown feeling of fear and insecurity. Relatives felt that Brij Bhushan was almost alone. He was also attacked several times while going to school. The family members sent him to his maternal uncle’s house to study. Meanwhile, at the age of 16, his ancestral house was demolished in family enmity. A few years after this incident, Brij Bhushan Singh completed his schooling and returned to his village once again for further studies. One day after coming to the village, when he went to college, an incident changed his whole life.
It was summer vacation time. Braj Bhushan Singh was going to a college near his village. Some girls were being molested on the way. Brajbhushan protested and clashed with the witches. This incident began to establish him as a student leader. Braj Bhushan of wrestler’s stature got a lot of support from the youth in no time. In 1979, he won the student union election with a record number of votes. From here begins the process of student leader Braj Bhushan becoming a Bahubali leader.
Active in temple movement
In the 1980s, his name resonated as a youth leader in 8-10 districts of Purvanchal. Whether it is wrestling, riot, running or horse riding. In village-village, the youth started placing bets of victory in his name. Contested the election of the chairman of the sugarcane committee in 1987 and won in the first time itself. After this, on the advice of his political mentor, he helped the Janata Dal in the Lok Sabha elections. In the period of 1988, he came in contact with BJP for the first time and started establishing himself as a Hindutva leader. After coming close to BJP, Brij Bhushan Singh contested the Legislative Council (MLC) election for the first time, but lost by 14 votes. However, after this defeat, he did not become weak, but went on becoming popular. Because, the Ramjanmabhoomi movement was gaining momentum in front.
In Gonda as well as in Ayodhya, the sadhus became close to the saints. He became active in the temple movement by taking the blessings of all the saints including Mahant Ramchandra Paramhans, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Swami Dharam Das of Hanuman Garhi. Here he got the shadow of a veteran leader like LK Advani.
When Advani’s Ram Rath Yatra was stopped and arrested in Bihar, at the same time the Faizabad administration put Brij Bhushan Singh in jail for a month. When Advani was released from jail, he started his first journey from Ayodhya and in it from Gonda to Faizabad, from Faizabad to Ayodhya Ghat and from Ayodhya to Lucknow, he remained with him during the journey as Advani’s charioteer. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh handled the Ram temple movement shoulder to shoulder with LK Advani.
Brij Bhushan came out against Mayavati
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh won the elections continuously since 1999 after becoming an MP for the first time in 1991. Behind this, his domineering image and aggressive political style are considered to play a big role. One such famous incident is when he clashed with the then Chief Minister Mayawati on the issue of changing the name of Gonda. In 2004, Mayawati had announced to change the name of Gonda to “Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan Nagar”. But Brij Bhushan opposed him amidst a huge crowd. Immediately lodged his protest with Chief Minister Mayawati in the same meeting and prepared a mass movement.
The matter reached Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Then on the appeal of Brij Bhushan Singh, PM Atal asked Mayawati to withdraw the announcement. Ultimately the name of Gonda did not change. But, after winning this battle for political supremacy, Brij Bhushan had to part ways with the BJP. It is said that some BJP leaders were angry after seeing Brij Bhushan’s supremacy. Because, the announcement made by Mayawati to change the name of Gonda, some leaders associated with BJP were behind that campaign. The differences between the BJP and Brij Bhushan Singh on this matter reached to the differences. He had to leave the party in 2009.
Many lawsuits have been filed
He joined the Samajwadi Party and contested the elections from Kaiserganj Lok Sabha. He won from Kaiserganj by a margin of 63 thousand votes. The party may have changed, but the political stature of Brij Bhushan and the influence of his muscle power did not diminish. He reached Parliament by winning by 63,000 votes. But, his ideological differences with the Samajwadi Party started very early. Therefore, about 6 months before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he left Mulayam and Akhilesh Yadav and joined BJP again.
He once again won from Kaiserganj by a huge margin of 73,000 votes. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s journey to become Bahubali passes through many serious allegations and all kinds of controversial cases. Cases were registered against him in four serious and 7 less serious sections of the IPC. However, the punishment did not happen in any case. From 1991 to 2019, he won the Lok Sabha elections 6 times. Apart from the domineering image in politics, he also has a style, due to which he has been in the headlines many times. He has a special love for writing, singing and literature. He often recites songs and poems in his speech.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has dozens of Inter Colleges, Degree Colleges and Educational Institutions in Gonda, Balrampur and surrounding districts. He says that an educated society is his dream, while opponents say that he has established an umbrella rule in the field of education in Gonda and surrounding districts. However, the truth is that expensive vehicles with VIP numbers testify to Brij Bhushan Singh’s Bahubali style. Most of his vehicles have 9000 numbers. Toyota Fortuner which costs around Rs 40 lakh and Tata Safari which costs around Rs 16 lakh.
Left the wrestling arena, not politics
Brij Bhushan Singh may have left the wrestling arena years ago, but he does not lag behind in confronting opponents in the political arena. However, sometimes things get worse. On 4 May 2019, he had given a controversial statement on BSP supremo Mayawati as a BJP candidate. When asked why he said this, he replied that Mayawati had called him a goon and a terrorist in a rally. So I have answered them.
Earlier on June 24, 2018, he had said that Congress produces terrorists. He retaliated on the Congress leader of Jammu and Kashmir Saifuddin Soz. He has given sharp statements about all the leaders including Owaisi, Azam Khan. Bahubali Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is a leader of Hinduist image and he uses his style-e-statement to maintain himself in that role. Opponents call him education mafia, while many call him Bahubali, who won elections on the basis of domination.
After 28 years in the case of demolition of the disputed structure, on 30 September 2020, MP Brij Bhushan was acquitted. Supporters celebrated when he was acquitted in the country’s most controversial, controversial and long-running trial. Despite all the allegations, controversies and jail visits, he continued to win the elections. His family also continued to gain political clout in his name. Wife became MP and son MLA. His activism is often seen in the society. But, it is true that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is not only recognized as a leader but also as Bahubali in his political journey.
