Assam-Meghalaya border dispute: CM Konrad Sangma said – this issue remains even after 50 years, a large section of the society wants its solution

Assam Meghalaya Border Dispute: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma (Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma) Said on Tuesday that the issues of border dispute have been there for the last 50 years. We are celebrating the golden jubilee of our state this year and this issue remains even after 50 years. Therefore a large section of the society wants its solution. He said that we are the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam K CM is very grateful to Himanta Biswa Sarma because he found a way to solve this. This was possible only because of teamwork. We were able to resolve disputes or at least some sort of resolution on six of the 12 areas of difference. I think this is a very important proposal and it will bring a lot of peace to the border areas.

Let us tell you that the border dispute between the two states can be resolved in Delhi today. On Tuesday, the Chief Ministers of both the states will sign an agreement in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will meet today at the Ministry of Home Affairs. During this, in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah, there will be an agreement between the two states. Along with this, the Principal Secretaries and other officers of both the states will also participate on this occasion.

Before the agreement between the two states, the final phase of talks between them is also expected. It may be noted that Meghalaya was carved out of Assam in 1972 and challenged the Assam Reorganization Act, 1971, leading to a dispute over 12 areas in different parts of the 884.9-km-long common border.
