Young journalist of Assam and founder of ‘Guwahati International Music Festival’ (GIMF) Ayushman Dutta died on Monday due to Kovid-19 infection. Dutta was 35 years old and unmarried. Tulika Devi, a close friend of Ayushman Dutta, shared the news of the demise of a journalist living in Guwahati. He was the feature editor of the English daily The Central. He has parents and brothers in his family.
He is the first media person to lose his life in the state due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also expressed grief over his death. Sonowal wrote on Twitter, “We are all saddened by the untimely demise of young journalist Ayushman Dutta. We express our deepest condolences to his family and wish him well. ” Dutta was found corona infected on 22 April and was admitted to the hospital on the same day.
According to the news agency PTI, his health started deteriorating from Saturday. His family and friends were looking for a plasma donor. Plasma providers were arranged on Sunday afternoon, but by then it was too late. Ayushman Dutta was known for his love for music, food and the culture of the North East. He also made some documentary films on the culture and folk tradition of the region.
Cases of infection are also increasing in Assam
In Assam too, the effect of the second wave of corona infection is beginning to be seen. On Monday, 3,137 new cases were registered in the state and 15 people died. The total number of cases of Kovid-19 in Assam has been 2,40,670, in which 1,215 people have died so far. The number of active cases in the state is 17,764. At the same time, 2,20,344 people have been cured of the infection.
On Monday, Assam’s Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patwari said that there is no shortage of oxygen in the state, but despite this, the state government has decided to stop supplying oxygen to the industries. Patwari, during a conversation with representatives of the state’s oxygen plant, asked him to increase production. He said that the entire production of oxygen will be sent to the hospitals by stopping the supply to the industries.
