Anshul Jubli early life and introduction to MMA
The 28-year old Anshul Jubli, commonly known as “King of Lions,” was born in Bhatwari village, close to Uttarkashi, and is the son of a former Border Security Force (BSF) officer. Because of his father’s job transfers, he had a very transient upbringing.
He initially learned about mixed martial arts and the UFC through his friend’s elder brother in 2015. Anshul Jubli said in a 2017 interview with The Better India that he started studying YouTube videos of John Danaher, a highly regarded BJJ and MMA teacher, and Firas Zahabi as he studied for his CDS and SSB tests.
Anshul and his friend would try to imitate the actions by following the directions in the video. It was challenging to really explore pursuing MMA as a profession in Dehradun since there were no local MMA training facilities. He had a friend in Delhi who told him about Crosstrain Fight Club (CFC), a mixed martial arts (MMA) gym where some of India’s best professional fighters train.
Anshul Jubli’s rise in MMA
Despite his early setbacks, Anshul could find solace in the fact that he had already invested months in a demanding training regimen. He was on the hunt for other confrontations now that his confidence and combat fitness had returned.
The second edition of Matrix Fight Night (MFN), which is regarded as India’s biggest professional MMA promotion and was launched by Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, his sister Krishna Shroff, and mother Ayesha Shroff, gave Anshul Jubli the opportunity to gain fame.
In the space of a year, Anshul made his professional debut and quickly took control of the amateur sector. He made a U-turn and won his next four bouts at MFN. Anshul’s tenure at CFC has considerably enhanced his ground game. He has been receiving coaching in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, grappling, wrestling, and even kickboxing from Coach Siddharth and his team.
