The National Equine Research Center at Hisar has developed the Anchovax vaccine to prevent the transmission of SARS coronavirus-2 from animals to animals and humans. Inexpensive kit developed to protect against Sarra disease.
The National Research Center on Equines, Hisar under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, has developed 6 vaccines for the prevention of infectious diseases in animals. It also has a vaccine to protect against COVID-19. ELISA kit has been developed for the diagnosis of infection of animals suffering from Sarra disease. This kit is very affordable in comparison to other clinical kits currently available. Surra is a disease caused by the creatures with spinal cord. Without treatment, the animal may even die. It causes fever, weakness, lethargy and anemia. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar released four such technologies developed by the Centre. Which will help the people doing Animal Husbandry.
Among them, vaccine is important to protect livestock from infectious diseases. The center has developed the Anchovax vaccine to prevent the transmission of SARS coronavirus-2 (Covid-19) from animals to animals as well as humans. It has been claimed to be completely safe. This vaccine provides immunity in animals to stop the COVID-19 virus.
effective in preventing covid
SARS Coronavirus-2 can also infect cat, dog, mink, deer, lion, tiger, leopard etc. In India, infection of the delta variant of COVID-19 has been confirmed in lions. This virus has been found to be similar to the delta variant of human COVID-19. Pets (dogs, cats) that live with human populations are also at risk of infection. The institute’s vaccine will prove to be effective in protecting against COVID.
6 Vaccines Developed for Animals
Appreciating the Equine Research Center, Tomar said that this institute has developed 6 vaccines and 19 diagnostic technologies for the prevention of infectious diseases of equine and some other animals, out of which four have been released today. Union Animal Husbandry and Dairying Secretary Atul Chaturvedi, Director General of ICAR Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Deputy Director General (Animal Science) Dr. BN Tripathi and other experts also addressed the program organized in this regard.
ELISA kit developed for dogs
The center has also developed Can Cov-2 ELISA kit for detection of SARS Cov-2 antibodies in dogs. At present there is no other kit available for the detection of SARS Cov-2 infection in dogs, so this kit will prove useful in the detection of SARS Cov-2 infection in dogs. Releasing it, Tomar said that in the progress of agriculture as well as allied activities like animal husbandry and fisheries in the country, apart from farmer friendly policies of our farmers and government, scientists have an important contribution.
Maternity-paternity verification of horses will be easy
A paternity analysis is constantly sought from owners in order to get the best value for their horses. Presently, there was no authentic method for maternal-paternity verification of horses in the country, to address which center has developed a facility for microsatellite marker based maternal-paternity verification in horses. The kit test was done on more than 300 horses, the results of which have been found to be correct.
