Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata this morning on a two-day visit to Bengal. Shubhendu Adhikari, Nisith Pramanik and other leaders welcomed him at the Calcutta airport.

This is the first visit of the Union Home Minister to Bengal after the defeat in the Bengal Assembly elections. Union Home Minister to inaugurate floating BOP
During the visit, Amit Shah will inaugurate BSF’s 06 modern floating BOPs Sutlej, Narmada, Kaveri, Ganga, Sabarmati, Krishna and Boat Ambulance deployed in the waters of Sunderbans after reaching BOP Hingalganj. After the inauguration of the floating BOP, Amit Shah will also inaugurate the Maitri Sangrahalaya (Museum) located in BOP Hardaspur. BSF has an important responsibility of monitoring and protecting the international border of Bangladesh and Pakistan and the government is emphasizing that modern equipment should be provided there.

The Friendship Museum has been established to make the general public aware of the valor of BSF in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War of Liberation. In order to increase the surveillance of Border Security Force in the inaccessible area of Sunderbans of West Bengal and to strengthen it further, the number of floating BOP has been increased. Apart from this, Boat Ambulance is also being started to provide medical treatment in this inaccessible area of Sundarbans which will serve the area from Saheb Khali to Shamsher Nagar. During this, Amit Shah will inaugurate the Maitri Sangrahalaya (Museum). Along with this, he will also address the party’s public meeting in Siliguri in the evening.
