Mysterious Fort of India
In India, many kings and emperors had built forts for their stay or to hide in case of emergency. These forts remain the pride of the country even today. Out of these, where we know some forts for their architecture, there are some forts which are sitting secret within themselves even after centuries. The fort about which we are going to tell you today is also full of mysteries.
We are talking about the Golconda Fort, which is also known as the major tourist destination of Hyderabad. It is situated at a distance of about nine kilometers from Hussain Sagar Lake, one of the largest man-made lakes in the country. In its early times it was a mud fort, but later changed to granite during the Qutb Shahi dynasty. It is said that the construction of this fort was completed in the 1600s, but it was started by the Kakatiya dynasty in the 13th century.
Kohinoor diamond was found from here
This fort is still known for its architecture, mythology, history and mysteries. An interesting history is attached to the construction of this fort. It is said that one day a shepherd boy found an idol on the hill. When the information of that idol was received by the then ruler Kakatiya Raja, considering it as a holy place, he got a mud fort built around it, which is today known as Golconda Fort.
It is believed that there are some secret tunnels in this fort, which starts from the Durbar Hall and goes to a palace at the bottom of the hill. It is said that it was built as an escape route, but no one has been able to find it. You can guess the splendid grandeur of this fort only by seeing the Durbar Hall here, which has been built on the top of the hill keeping in mind the two cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. One has to climb a thousand steps to reach here.
The biggest secret of this fort is that it has been built in such a way that when someone claps on the floor of the fort, his voice resonating from Bala Hissar Gate is heard throughout the fort. This place is also called ‘Talia Mandap’ or modern sound alarm. You will be surprised to know that our Kohinoor, which is with the Britishers today, was found only from Golconda in Hyderabad. It is also said that world-famous diamonds such as Dariya-i-Noor, Noor-ul-Ain diamond, Hope Diamond and Regent Diamond were excavated in the mines of Golconda.
