The Subhash Nagar Railway Over Bridge (ROB) revealed two accidents within just eight hours. After which serious concerns have arisen about the design and safety of this bridge.
This bridge built at a cost of 40 crores
It cost Rs 40 crore to build this bridge. This bridge was seen as an important route for passengers going to Bhopal railway station. This bridge, which remained two years old, was also an important link between Maida Mill and Prabhat Petrol Pump. But in view of the recent events, the shortcomings of its design have been exposed and the traffic congestion has also been reduced.
Accident caused by sharp turn
Two horrific accidents occurred in the last eight days on a snake -like bridge. In both the accidents, the vehicle lost its control over the sharp turns of the bridge and this accident happened. In one case, a car collided with the road divider and overturned into the air. In the second case, a school van was damaged due to collision with the same divider. However, no one has died in these accidents. But before this, there is a serious accident due to this bridge, the government needs to take corrective steps.
Flaws of this bridge
The biggest problem of this bridge is that its structure is like a snake. Due to this structure, the driver has to pass through four sharp turns in a few seconds and there is not enough space on this bridge to turn the vehicle. The wrongly built dividers are also the main reason for accidents on this bridge. Especially for drivers traveling at night. The height of this divider is also low, which is difficult to reach in low light. Traffic problem on this bridge is also a serious concern.
Bridge expert expresses concern
The bridge expert expressed serious concern about such a design of the bridge. Experts say that bridges based on snake structure are naturally risky. He said that unless there is any option due to lack of space, such size should be avoided to build a bridge.
