A major change has been made in the rules related to air flight from June 1. This rule is related to airfare and flight capacity. According to the new rule, the minimum flight fare has been increased by 16 percent. This means that the lowest fare for 40 minutes in the country was Rs 2300, it has now increased to Rs 2600. Similarly, the rule of capacity has also been implemented in flight.
As far as the rent is concerned, it has been increased by 13-16 percent. This simply means that the minimum fare which was there will increase by 16%. Its direct effect will be seen on short distance flights because this category of fare used to come in lesser rupees. Here the growth is minimum 10 percent, while it is seeing an increase up to 16 percent. On the other hand, changes have also been made according to the duration of the flight.
This will be the new fare
The effect of this rent increase is visible on different sectors. The fare from Delhi to Banaras which was Rs 4100 two days ago has now gone to Rs 5000. Booking for the next 1 month has started on this fare. In this way, all the short-distance flights, the fare hike has been implemented. It has become effective from 1st June. From June 1, the lower limit for flights of 60-90, 90-120, 120-150, 150-180 and 180-210 minutes has been increased to Rs 4,000, 4,700, 6,000, 7,400 and Rs 8,700. Till now this limit was Rs 3,500, 4,100, 5,300, 6,400 and 7,600 respectively.
by how much will the rent increase
Due to this, passengers will now have to pay more money. As compared to earlier, 10 to 16 percent may have to be paid. Apart from this, the fare that the flight companies increase in the crowded season will be different. In this regard, the government says that this will give relief to the airline companies. Airline companies are running in losses, due to Corona, passengers are not getting. In view of the economic slowdown, the government has taken this step to revive the airline companies. Along with this, the government has also implemented the rule of reducing the capacity of the flight from June 1. By reducing the capacity, the aircraft will fly less than before. If a company’s aircraft used to fly 10 in a day earlier, then now it will take less trips than that.
Meaning and implications of flight capacity
Earlier, the capacity limit of the flight was kept up to 80 percent. That is, an airline company could fly up to 80 percent of the estimated number of trips. Now this number has been reduced. The flight capability of the plane has been reduced from 80 percent to 50 percent. This decision was taken because many flights were going empty due to Corona or even on normal days. Due to this the companies were incurring losses. To avoid this loss, the flight capacity has been reduced. This means that the number of flights has decreased but the fare has been increased. Its dual effect will be seen on the passengers. They will have to pay a higher fare, while the flight booking will have to wait longer than before.
why this decision
The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted domestic air travel demand. Airline companies are flying at low capacity and are also facing financial crisis due to falling demand as well as travel restrictions by many states to prevent infection. Air companies want to reduce costs at this time to face the difficulties caused by the epidemic. Due to this, salary cuts and layoffs are also being seen in the air industry. To avoid this difficulty, airline companies have reduced their network capacity from 75 percent to 25-30 percent. In this episode, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has allowed domestic airline companies to operate flights at 50 percent of their capacity from June 1.
