The paddy crop in the fields is in pregnancy stage. Earrings are coming out in early harvest. In some districts of Bihar, Bhagalpur, Nalanda, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad and Begusarai, information is being received regarding cases of sheath blight and leaf blight disease on paddy crop. The effect of strainer and gandhi bug has also been seen in paddy. Right now the effects of diseases and pests are in the initial stage. Yield can be increased by protecting the paddy crop from diseases and pests by management. The Bihar Agriculture Department is continuously monitoring the outbreak of pests in the paddy crop. Prompt action is being taken on receipt of complaints from farmers.
The Government of Bihar has directed the District Agriculture Officer and Assistant Director, Plant Protection of all the districts to give necessary suggestions to the farmers for control/management of all types of pests in paddy and use of recommended medicines in proper quantity. Provide information and give wide publicity to it.
Instructions have been given to the officers of the Agriculture Department to make the farmers aware about adopting the following measures for proper management/control of pest and disease in paddy crop:-
Sheath blight is a fungal disease in paddy crop, in which greenish-brown irregularly shaped spots are formed on the cover, which looks like snake worm in appearance.
For management / control of this disease, proper drainage should be done in the field. Top dressing of urea is advised to be discontinued till improvement is observed.
Spraying of carbendazim 50 percent soluble powder in 1 gram per liter of water and spraying the crop or spraying of Bhalidamycin 3 ml or Hexaconazole 5% EC at the rate of 2 ml per liter of water prevents the disease.
Leaf blight disease is a disease caused by bacteria in paddy crop, in which the leaves dry from the top on both sides or one edge. Soon the entire leaves dry up, causing damage to the crop. For the prevention of this disease in paddy plants, it is advisable to remove as much water as possible from the field. Balanced treatment of fertilizers, less use of ophthalmic fertilizers as well as spraying the crop by making a solution of streptocyclin 1 gram per 10 liters of water. Spraying should be done again in a week.
How to identify insect?
In paddy crop, the stem borer insect can be identified very easily. The front wing of its female insect is yellowish, in which there is a black spot in the central part. The pupa of the insect penetrates inside the stem and eats the soft part, due to which the uterus dries up. When infested in the later stage, the earrings turn white, which can be easily pulled out.
To control the stem borer pest, it is recommended to apply 8-10 pheromone taps per hectare and bird percher in the field. Also, Carbafuran 3 g granular 25 kg or Fipronil 0.3 g 20-25 kg or Cartap hydrochloride 4 g granular 25 kg per hectare in the field at the rate of 25 kg per hectare, is recommended to be treated with light trap in the evening in the field. And after a few days, it is advisable to make a solution of Acephate 75 percent SP at the rate of 1 gram per liter of water and spray it on the crop.
The odorous insect that occurs in the paddy crop is a brownish long legged odorous insect. Infant and adult insects pierce the grains of paddy and suck its milk in the milking stage, due to which the paddy turns into a khadi. To control this pest, tie the crab in a cotton cloth bundle and hang it around the field at 10-20 places per hectare with the help of a stick / stick, which is about one foot above the height of the crop. No chemical treatment will be required. Also, spraying of Chlorpyriphos 1.5% dust or Malathion 5% dust @ 25 kg per hectare is recommended in the morning.
