However, he decided to become a school teacher giving private tuition for the year. Gurmail became the circle president of Bhawanigarh block in 2015. After this, he was elected Sarpanch of Gharchon in the year 2018. However, later AAP made him the district in-charge of Sangrur in the year 2021.
