The central government is preparing for increasing online hacking and cyber attacks in the country. In the last three months, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has trained more than 4,000 government officials on cyber security. These officers were trained in a virtual (online) manner. This course was started in December last year for the training of officers.
According to the report of Hindustan Times, two types of courses have been started for training. First, one day basic training is being given to prevent cyber attacks and digital sanitization. At the same time, 5 days training is being given to understand the technical aspects related to cyber security in the other type of course. Both training programs are conducted by the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Hyderabad.
According to the report, an official with knowledge of the case said on the condition of anonymity, “Other government officials are also applying for the course, due to which its number is increasing. It is our endeavor to train all government officials on cyber security in the next 6 months. ” Government emails have been used many times for cyber attacks in the last few months.
In this training, information on information security, cyber ethics, detailed information on cyber crimes, data, password and email security, mobile security, mobile app security and social engineering attack are being given at the organization level. Basic training for 6-8 hours also includes things like social networking security and secure financial transactions. 1000 people can be trained in the webinar.

Officials said that fewer people participated in the advanced course. More than 500 people signed up for it and completed the course. It also includes the basics of cyber security, information security policies, procedures and guidelines, systems and network security concepts for IT / ICT. This advanced program includes information security audit as well as things related to cyber security threats and response to cyber attacks. For this program 10 people participate at a time.
