In view of the 37th anniversary of Operation Shan Blue Star, security arrangements have been tightened around Sri Darbar Sahib today. This is the biggest operation carried out by the army in its own country so far, which was named Operation Blue Star. Various Sikh organizations have planned different programs to celebrate this anniversary. Tributes will be paid to those who lost their lives during the anniversary and on this occasion the Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib will also give his message to the Sikh community. In fact, in this operation, in 1984, the army launched a military operation on 6 June to expel the terrorists hiding in the Golden Temple complex.
Over 6,000 policemen deployed across the city
On the other hand, the Punjab government has tightened security across the state, especially Amritsar, where the Golden Temple is located. If the Commissionerate Police of Amritsar is to be believed, they will deploy more than 6,000 policemen to keep a watch across the city. Last Thursday, the police also conducted a flag march from Hall Gate to Heritage Street which leads to the Golden Temple.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), a Sikh organization, said last week that it would keep the bullet-filled holy form of the Guru Granth Sahib for public viewing on the anniversary of Operation Bluestar this year and till June 5.
