With the arrival of 2,479 new cases of COVID-19 in Karnataka on Tuesday, the total number of infected people increased to 30,13,326. During this, the number of dead (Coronavirus in Karnataka) reached 38,355 due to the death of four more patients. The State Health Department issued this information by issuing a bulletin. In Karnataka, on January 1, after a gap of three months, the number of new cases of infection was more than one thousand. After this, on January 2, 1,187, while on Monday, January 3, 1,290 new cases of corona virus infection were reported.
According to the bulletin issued by the state health department, 288 patients have also become infection free during the last 24 hours in Karnataka, increasing the number of people who have defeated the infection of this deadly virus in the state to 29,61,410. The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Karnataka has increased to 13,532. The maximum number of 2,053 new cases were reported in Bengaluru urban area and three patients died. In Karnataka, 95,391 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday. A total of 5.68 crore samples have been tested so far. The infection rate is 2.59 percent while the death rate remains 0.16 percent.
Eight IAS officers deployed to handle COVID cases
At the same time, in view of the dangerous Omicron variant of the rising coronavirus in Karnataka, the state government has deployed eight IAS officers in eight areas of Bengaluru to handle and restrict the COVID situation and Omicron related cases. The first case of Omicron came in India on December 2 when two people were confirmed to be infected with this variant. These cases had come to the fore in Karnataka itself. In view of the increasing cases of corona, people are being appealed to follow the covid rules.
Bangalore will be the epicenter of the third wave
On the other hand, Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday stressed on special measures for the city in Bengaluru amid alarming rise in COVID-19 cases. He emphasized that the sound of the third wave of COVID has started coming. Sudhakar speculated that Bengaluru could be the epicenter of the present pandemic. The Health Minister told reporters, it has become very important to take special steps in Bangalore. Bangalore can emerge as an epicenter. It was an epicenter in the first wave and the second wave. It will also be the epicenter during the third wave.
