‘Made in India for Indians’ SUV Citroen C3 glimpsed, to be launched on September 16

The upcoming Citroen C3 SUV will compete with cars like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV300.

The Citroen C3 will be the first SUV in India to come with a flex-fuel engine compatible with ethanol-based fuel.

Auto major Citroen has confirmed that its upcoming subcompact SUV, codenamed CC21, will make its global debut on September 16. The carmaker has taken to social media to make the announcement along with a teaser image of the SUV. Citroen called the upcoming SUV ‘Made in India for Indians’. According to reports, the Mini Citroen SUV, called the C3 in most markets, will be launched in Asian countries first and in Latin America next year.

The teaser image shows the traditional logo on top of the grille. The bonnet of the C3 is likely to get the same butterfly-pattern on the bonnet as seen on the C5 Aircross SUV. The LED DRLs also look quite futuristic in the teaser image and look a bit different from the French auto giant’s first offering in India.

Citroen C3 will compete with these vehicles

The Citroen C3, after the launch of the C5 Aircross SUV in India last year, will be the second offering from the French auto giant in the country. The 2022 C3 SUV will compete with vehicles like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV300.

Citroen C3 will come with 1.2-litre turbocharged engine

The Citroen C3 will be the first SUV in India to come with a flex-fuel engine compatible with ethanol-based fuel. According to reports, the Citroen is going to fit the C3 SUV with a 1.2-litre turbocharged flex-fuel engine, which is paired to a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The engine is capable of generating a maximum power of 130 bhp. The SUV can also get the option of a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine.

Citroen C3 SUV will be introduced at a very affordable price

Citroen will use its new Common Modular Platform (CMP) for the new C3 SUV, which is intended to keep the cost of the vehicle down and make it more affordable in markets like India, where passenger vehicles are under the four-metre category. SUVs have seen an increase.
