Masala Rice

A bowl of masala rice is a very comfort food that you can eat anytime of the day. If you have some left over rice from lunch, try this recipe and turn them into a delicious dinner.

This rice recipe contains a variety of vegetables, which makes it super nutritious. We have also added a lot of spices which give masala flavor to the recipe.

You can use spices as per your taste and preference. This delicious masala rice recipe is ready in just 15 minutes and will be loved by people of all ages.

Ingredients of Masala Rice

2 servings

1 cup boiled rice
1 large tomato
1 capsicum (green chili)
3 tbsp peas
1 tsp garlic paste
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1/4 tsp cumin
1 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp garam masala powder
2 tbsp roasted cashew nuts
1 medium onion
1 carrot
6 green beans
1 tsp ginger paste
2 tbsp rice bran oil
1/2 teaspoon rye
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp coriander powder
salt as required

How to make Masala Rice?

Step 1- Chop the vegetables

First, chop all the vegetables like onion, tomato, capsicum, carrot and green beans. Keep them aside.

Step 2- Prepare the Masala

Now heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida, cumin, mustard seeds and let them splutter for a minute. Now add onion, ginger-garlic paste and mix it.

Let them roast for another minute. Now add chopped tomatoes with salt. Give them a mixture and cook for a few minutes, till they become soft.

Step 3- Add Vegetables and Spices

Add all vegetables like carrots, capsicum, peas and green beans. Add turmeric, red chili powder and coriander powder. Give a good mixture and cover the pan with a lid. Let the vegetables cook for five minutes.

Step 4- Add Rice

Lastly, add the cooked rice to the pan and mix it gently with the spices. Add garam masala and give one last mixture. Make sure that you will not break the rice in this process. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for two more minutes.

Step 5- Ready to serve

After cooking, serve garnished with roasted cashews.

Tips

You can go for whole spices like cinnamon, bay leaves, black pepper and cardamom in the beginning if you are a fan of the taste of whole spices.
