You can enjoy Arbi ki Tikki during Navratri. This is a delicious snack recipe prepared with two main ingredients Arbi and Buckwheat flour. You can serve this appetizer recipe in breakfast. This is a mouth watering North Indian recipe. You can serve it with green chutney or any dip of your choice.
The taste of this vegetarian dish is very delicious. You can also make this on any other occasion. This recipe is quite easy to make. Sattvic diet also helps in achieving good physical and mental balance.
Arbi ki Tikki recipe
- Refined oil – 2 cups
- Ajwain – 2 tsp
- rock salt as required
- Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp
- Buckwheat – 8 tbsp
- Arbi – 1/2 kg
- Green chili – 2
- Green coriander – 1 handful chopped
First wash the arbi in water. Now put in a pressure cooker with enough water to cover the arbi. Close the cooker with the lid and cook on medium flame till 2-3 whistles come. Meanwhile, in a blender jar, add green chilies and make a fine paste.

After the arbi starts boiling, take it out in a big bowl. Now peel them and mash them with the help of potato masher or you can also use wooden spoon. Now in a bowl containing mashed arbi, add rock salt, green chili paste, carom seeds, ginger paste, green coriander and buckwheat flour and mix well.

Now take out little part from the mixture of arbi and make round balls. Press gently between your palms. Repeat this with the entire mixture. Now place a deep-bottomed pan on medium heat and heat refined oil in it. When the oil is hot, put raw arbi tikkis in it.
Step – 4
Fry them till they become golden-brown in colour. Once done, take out the fried tikkis on a plate covered with absorbent paper. Serve them with a dip of your choice to enjoy.
