Millets. This word has been in discussion for the last few months. Nothing new. The focus has just increased on this. Health experts as well as the government. And since the government is vigorously engaged in this, the attention of the common people has also gone towards it. Millets means coarse grains. Ragi, Jowar, Bajra, Sava, Kangni, Kodo, Kutki, Kattu etc. These millets have been given a new name in the budget, Shrianna.
In the budget, the government has decided to start Shri Anna Yojana, under which their production will be increased in the country. This year the government is celebrating the International Millet Year. India is already the largest producer of millets. Also the second largest exporter. That is, everything is going well. But the question is, why did these coarse grains suddenly attract the attention of the government? Why the government was so kind to millets that it started making a separate super plan for superfood.
To understand what are the reasons behind the sudden increase in focus of the government on millets, we spoke to experts and came to the fore.
The country has been eating only wheat and rice for decades!

Millets are very healthy. Their history in the Indian subcontinent is thousands of years old. These are of two types. Coarse grain cereals, which do not require processing. Like Ragi, Jowar, Millet. There are other types of millets, with small grains, with small seeds. Like- Kodo, Kangni etc. There are many benefits of these millets for health.
Healthy India Mission
Behind the sudden focus of the government on millets, there is also the mission of a healthy India. In the budget, the government has set many targets regarding health. A target has been set to eliminate many diseases including anemia. If the consumption of millets increases, it will help a lot in achieving such missions.
