In the upper house of the US Parliament, the bill to protect marriages between homosexuals and different races has got the green signal. Now this bill will be sent to the House of Representatives of the US Parliament. This bill has been introduced by Senator Tamari Baldwin of the Democratic Party. He has publicly accepted that he is gay. He says, this bill will protect the rights of equality in the matter of getting married in America.
This is not the first time Tamari Baldwin has come out as gay. In 2012, he accepted the fact of being gay for the first time. She became the first gay politician to win the US Senate election.
Parents separated, brought up by maternal grandparents
Baldwin was born on 11 February 1962 in the US state of Wisconsin. The mother was separated from the father at the time of birth. Due to deteriorating mental condition of the mother, she was brought up by maternal grandparents. Initial studies were done from the city of Madison, Wisconsin. He received his BA from Smith College in 1984 and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1989. After completing his studies, he practiced law in 1992.
Political career started in 1992
Baldwin’s political career began in 1992 when he participated in the 78th Assembly Election of Wisconsin. Contested the Democratic primary and won with 43 percent of the vote. After this, in the elections held in 1992, he won the election with 76 percent votes and in 1996 won the third time with 71 percent votes.
In 1994 appealed for recognition of gay marriage
Baldwin has always been outspoken. In 1993, he raised questions opposing Democratic President Bill Clinton’s ‘Don’t Ask-Don’t Tell’ policy. This is not the first time Baldwin is advocating for gay marriage and their rights. Even in 1994, he advocated legal recognition of same-sex marriage in Wisconsin. In 2012, Baldwin was elected to the US Senate. He won with 51.4 percent of the votes and became the first gay candidate to reach the US Parliament.
Baldwin raised the issue of homosexuals from time to time, but it did not work. Now his dream seems to be coming true. This is because the House of Representatives of the Republican Party has got a majority in the recently held US mid-term elections. Now the bill will be sent to the House of Representatives, from where it is expected to be passed. After this it will be presented before the US President.
Through this new bill, it has been arranged that if the constitutional rights of same-sex marriages are weakened due to any reason in the future or the Supreme Court imposes a ban, then in that case the ‘Respect for Marriage Act’ will protect their rights.
