400 grams of bread has now gone for Rs 50. More prices will increase in the coming days. Biscuits have already become expensive. Companies have either increased the price of biscuits or reduced the weight of the packet. Earlier, a bag of 5 kg flour used to come for Rs 150-155, but now it has reached 190-195.

After the increase in the prices of wheat in the domestic market, India increased its export (Wheat Export) has been temporarily banned. Due to this move of India, a wave of concern has run in the whole world. This has happened because India had announced just before the ban that it would export 100 lakh tonnes of wheat to meet the needs of the world. Russo-Ukraine War (Russia-UkrainThe world, which is facing acute shortage of wheat, was relieved by this announcement of India. But then the prices of wheat started climbing in the domestic market. To curb this immediately, India decided to stop exports. food security (Food SecuritySome questions were also raised regarding ) in view of which the export ban was imposed. Due to this ban, the possibility of increase in the price of wheat and its related products has become strong globally. The prices of all the products in which wheat is used have started increasing.

Let us know why there is such a rise in the price of wheat. The biggest reason for this is the extreme heat and heat wave. This time the summer has started a little earlier, due to which wheat has been affected badly at the time of harvesting. This time there was also heavy rain before the wheat crop was planted, which made the wheat grains smaller or less nutritious. In terms of per acre, the yield which was produced in the earlier season has decreased this time. This situation is being seen in almost every area of the country. Supply was affected due to decrease in production and demand remained the same. Due to this the prices of wheat started climbing. Even the wheat that the government procures (lifting or buying) is seeing a decrease of 50 percent compared to last year. When the situation is so bad, then how can exports be thought of?

    India’s preparation

However, India has respected those countries which have demanded consignment of wheat ‘citing their food security’. India will also supply wheat to those countries with which ‘letter of credit’ or agreement has been signed in the past. India is the second largest producer of wheat in the world. The eyes of the whole world were on India because after the start of Russia-Ukraine war on 24 February, the wheat coming from Ukraine-Russia through the Black Sea has stopped completely. But now India has also pasted a ban on the export of wheat in view of its needs.

Has wheat production really decreased in India? A top government official, on the condition of anonymity, told Reuters, “Wheat production has not decreased in the country, but due to the export of wheat without regulation or without any rules, the price has increased wildly in the local markets. Due to this the black marketing of wheat has increased and there is a possibility of further increase. According to traders, there was a possibility of a ban on the export of wheat after the next 2-3 months, but the government has increased this step in view of inflation. The inflation rate in April is at a record high of 8 years, due to which the Reserve Bank is strictly increasing interest rates. This has increased the scope of loan etc. to become expensive.

How much increased the price of wheat

Right now the price of wheat in India is at a record high and in some places the price is Rs 25,000 per tonne. This price has reached $ 320 in dollars. It is a matter of concern that the government has kept the MSP price of wheat at Rs 20,150 per tonne, but in the open markets it is being sold up to Rs 5 thousand costlier on a tonne. Wheat prices are running fast due to increase in oil prices, labor charges, transportation and packaging costs.

The prices of many goods have also started increasing.
