today’s big news
What is the difference between Khadim and Barelvis?
The word Khadim is derived from those who serve. Khadim is called those who do kar seva in the dargah. On the other hand, the Muslims who believe in Ala Hazrat are called Barelvi. Jaipur’s Unani expert Dr. Abuzar Zaidi says that both the groups believe in different gurus. Khadim serving in the dargah is a supporter of Guru Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, while Barelvi Muslims believe in Ala Hazrat. Both are part of Islam, but there was a difference in their thinking about the gurus. Sometimes this difference becomes the reason for the dispute.
Although all the followers of Islam call themselves Muslims, but on the basis of their respective understanding of Islamic law and Islamic history, the Muslim community is divided into many sects. Like- Hanafi, Deobandi, Barelvi, Maliki, Shafai, Hambli, Sunni Vohra and Ahmadiyya.
Why and how did the controversy happen?
People associated with the dargah say that Barelvis come here and praise their Guru Taju Sariya. During this, they raise slogans of ‘Basti-Basti Kariya Kariya… Taju Sariya Taju Sariya’ for their Guru. This is not the first time that there has been a ruckus here for raising such slogans. Similar slogans were raised in 2018 as well and there was uproar.
The Anjuman committee here had complained about this matter to the police administration. Not only this, an appeal was made by placing posters in the surrounding area that slogans should be raised only in the glory of Khwaj Sahabat.
Police say, Khadim and Barelvi clashed with each other because of sloganeering. On the spot, the police somehow pacified the matter. Eyewitnesses say, after 2 pm on Saturday night, a group of Barelvis sitting in Shahjahani Masjid started shouting slogans. After this sloganeering, the Khadims of the dargah opposed their sloganeering. This is where things got worse. Both the groups clashed with each other. The fight started and a situation of stampede was created. When there was an uproar, the gathering was going on.
Seeing the fighting, a situation of stampede was created among the pilgrims present. The situation became such that the volunteers present to control the crowd also ran away by jumping the wall of the mosque. A video of the incident of that night has also surfaced in which Khadim is seen entering the mosque.
Talking to the media, Dargah police station in-charge Amar Singh said, an agreement has been made between the two sides. An arrest has been made. So far no party has filed the report.
