Now fighter jets will be more powerful. Indigenous radars will be installed in it. With its help, enemy planes can be targeted. Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Has developed a new radar in the lab of Bangalore. The name of this radar is Uttam, which has been prepared for Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas. This is Active Electronically Scanned Array Radar (AESAR).
Light combat aircraft will be more powerful through indigenous radar. Due to this new radar, the import of Israeli radar will decrease and now India is preparing to export such radar in the field of defense.
How will it work?
Sheshagiri P., director of the project related to Uttam radar, says, Uttam radar was tested by installing it on two Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and Executive Jet. which was successful. With the help of this radar, weapons can be fired up to the range where the eyes cannot see. If you understand in simple language, the enemy is not visible, but if it is in the range of radar, then the missile released with its help will destroy it.
Keeping an eye on 100 targets simultaneously
According to DRDO, it is part of modern weapons of war which is capable of hitting multiple targets simultaneously. Not only this, it captures and sends high resolution pictures of enemy targets and makes the challenges of war easier. With its help, 100 enemy targets can be monitored simultaneously.
This indigenous radar helps in precise targeting of the missile. Through this, air-to-air, air-to-ground and air-to-sea targets can be targeted in all areas. This project got approval in 2012. The team involved in this project had also developed another indigenous radar eye of the country. Which was used to monitor the sea. Now preparations are on to promote the export of this indigenous equipment. Many countries have expressed their desire to buy it.
Will not have to buy Israeli radar
Till now, Israeli radar has been used in Tejas, a light fighter jet of multirole combat of the Indian Air Force. Now it will be removed and indigenous radar Uttam will be used. The country’s fighter jets will be upgraded. Of the 123 Tejas fighter jets to be inducted into the Indian Air Force, 51 percent will be fitted with the state-of-the-art Active Electronically Scanned Array Radar.
DRDO Director-General BK Das says, apart from North Radar, the institute is preparing to make many other electronic equipment. The Center is taking rapid steps to increase exports in the field of defence. PM Modi had said on Monday, by 2024-25, India’s defense export business is likely to reach $5 billion.
