Population explosion is a big threat to the country, RSS’s Sir Karyavah Dattatreya Hosabale has once again advocated for making population policy in the country, he believes that the Hindu population is continuously decreasing due to conversion and low fertility in the country.
In terms of statistics, the population of India is currently 140 crores, which is estimated to be 166 crores by 2050. This pace of population growth can prove to be a big threat to India.
If seen between 1991 and 2011, the Hindu population grew by only 20% in 20 years, while the Muslim population increased by 36%. The data shows that the Muslim population in the country is increasing rapidly.
In 1951, the population of the country was about 36 crores, according to the 2011 census, the population of the country was 120 crores, at present this figure has reached 140 crores.
At the time of the country’s independence, the Muslim population was 35 million, which increased to 172 million in 2011, while the Hindu population at that time was 300 million, which reached 966 million in 2011.
Talking about Hindu and Muslim population, in the last 60 years, the population of Muslims has increased by an average of 4%, while the same decline has been seen in the population of Hindus.
Talking about the fertility rate, in 1992 the fertility rate of Muslims was the highest at 4.4, while the fertility rate of Hindus was 3.3 at that time.
There was a decline in the fertility rate of Muslims in 2015 compared to 1992, but it was higher than that of Hindus. In 2015, the Muslim fertility rate was 2.6, as compared to the Hindu fertility rate of 2.1.
