In those days, there was a period of British rule in the country. On one side there was a peaceful fight for freedom under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. On the other hand, the fight of the revolutionaries was going on. Khudiram Bose He was just 16 years old when he joined the Revolution Party in 1905. The shadow of the parents had risen from the head in childhood itself. While studying in the ninth standard, he jumped into the freedom struggle. He was given the task of distributing pamphlets against the British. He was caught doing so in 1906. The British authorities arrested him, but had to release him because he was not an adult.
After this arrest, Khudiram Bose became more vocal. He was also involved in the bomb blast at Narayangarh railway station in Bengal in 1907. After this incident, Kingsford Chief President in Kolkata became more strict towards the revolutionaries. Then the revolutionaries made a plan to kill Kingsford. For this, Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chand Chaki were selected.
Martyrs became happy, Khudiram was caught
Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chand reached Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. Both started keeping an eye on Kingsford. And one day seeing the opportunity, he threw a bomb in Kingsford’s wagon. That date was 30 April 1908. Both felt that Kingsford was killed in their attack, but at that time, instead of Kingsford, two European women known to him, Kennedy and his daughter, were riding in the car. Both those women were killed, for which Khudiram and Prafulla Chand Chaki felt very sorry.
After this attack, Khudiram ran for about 25 miles, but the English police had suspected Khudiram. Soldiers surrounded Khudiram and Praful Chand near Pusa Road railway station. Seeing himself surrounded, Prafulla Chand did what Chandrashekhar Azad had done. He shot himself and became a martyr. Khudiram Bose was caught till then.

After being caught, Khudiram Bose was tried for murder. He was sentenced to death on 13 June 1908 after a trial of 5 days. Historians tell that the patriotism within Khudiram was such that he had no sorrow for the death sentence. There was a smile on his face while hearing the sentence. Even on the day of hanging, he was smiling like it was a festival. It was a matter of pride for him to hang himself for the country. He had ordered a new dhoti for this day. He was hanged on 11 August 1908 in Muzaffarpur Jail. At the time of hanging, he was not even 19 years old.
Khudiram Dhoti became popular among the youth
After Khudiram was hanged, a new flame of revolution lit up in Bengal. Voices of rebellion against the British rule started rising among the youth. The youth started wearing dhoti with a printed border in the name of Khudiram and opened a front against the British in Bengal. It was a matter of pride for the people to wear a dhoti printed with the name of Khudiram Bose.
