Many names were included in the pairs of those who brought revolution in India. Like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Chandrashekhar Azad. Ramprasad Bismil and Ashfaq Ullah Khan. Ramprasad and Ashfaq were good friends along with being the main accused in the Kakori incident. Ramprasad was a Brahmin and Ashfaq was a Muslim, but both of them kept their friendship till the last moment, which they vowed to die for the country. Both dreamed of an independent country and together they set out to make it a reality. Whose examples were also given.
Ashfaq Ullah Khan was born on 22 October 1900 in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Ashfaq, the youngest of four brothers, was very interested in poetry from the beginning. This was the reason that he was also called an emerging poet in his youth.
Story of Ashfaq and Ramprasad Bismil’s friendship
Whenever there was talk of poetry in the house, Ashfaq’s elder brother did not forget to mention Ramprasad Bismil, who studied with him. Ashfaq had become a fan of Ramprasad after listening to his stories. One day Ramprasad Bismil’s name surfaced in plotting against the British government. Which came to be known as Mainpuri Conspiracy. Ashfaq also wanted India to be free from the British. So he made a plan to meet Ram Prasad.
This was the period when Mahatma Gandhi’s non-cooperation movement was at its peak in India. Ramprasad Bismil had to reach a meeting in Shahjahanpur to deliver a speech. On getting information about this, Ashfaq reached there to meet him. After the program was over, he introduced himself as the younger brother of his friend. Told that I write poetry in the name of ‘Hasrat’. Hearing this, Ramprasad was impressed and took him with him. He listened to his poetry, which he liked very much. This meeting turned into friendship. The pair of both became famous. Wherever he used to go, there would be four moons in the gathering of poetry.
Announcement of withdrawal of non-cooperation movement
In 1922, after the Chaurichaura incident, Mahatma Gandhi announced the withdrawal of the non-cooperation movement. Many youths were disappointed by his decision. Ramprasad Bismil and Ashfaq were also included in them. Both the revolutionaries believed that freedom would not be achieved by asking for it, it would have to be fought for. That’s why both of them decided to join the Youth Revolutionary Party.
The war of independence was not easy, for this they needed bombs, guns and weapons. He believed that the British are less in number than the Indians, yet they are able to rule the country because they have weapons.The idea of Kakori loot came from here.
Journey from Kakori robbery to hanging
Weapons were needed to make the country free from the British. And money for weapons. To find a solution to this, both along with the revolutionaries planned a robbery in Kakori. This plan was approved on 8th August and on 9th August he came to execute it.
Ramprasad Bismil and Ashfaq looted the train along with 8 other revolutionaries. Ramprasad Bismil was leading this entire mission. The British government was shocked by this step of the revolutionaries. The government ordered to arrest the revolutionaries. First of all, Ramprasad Bismil was arrested on 26 September 1925. The British government had to struggle a lot to catch Ashfaq, but he was arrested after a friend betrayed him.
Friendship continued, water turned on the plan of the British
The British government tried to play the Hindu-Muslim card between the two and break the friendship so that the truth could come out. But this plan of the British government did not work. Both had faith in each other. The matter reached the court and Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil, Rajendra Lahiri and Thakur Roshan Singh were sentenced to death in the Kakori incident.
