Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting Gujarat on 29 and 30 September, is going to give a big gift to his home state. The Prime Minister will dedicate it to the nation by flagging off the Vande Bharat train from state capital Gandhinagar on 30 September. State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Minister of State for Railways Darshana Jardosh will also be present on this occasion. Vande Bharat train will increase the convenience of public transport for the citizens of Gujarat. After a huge success on two routes of Delhi, India’s first indigenous semi-high speed train will now be seen running on the tracks of Gujarat. A few days ago, successful trial of Vande Bharat train was also done in Gujarat.
KAVACH (Train Collision Avoidance System) technology is being launched for the first time in this Vande Bharat train running in Gujarat. With the help of this technology, accidents like head-on collision of two trains will now be prevented. This technology has been developed in the country itself, due to which its cost is very low. The plan to bring the rail network up to 2,000 km under ‘Kavach’ was announced by the central government in the budget of 2022 and it was also successfully tested by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in March 2022.
Known as indigenous semi-high speed, this train travels from 0 to 100 km. Acquires speed up to per hour in just 52 seconds. The train is fitted with automatic plug doors with sliding footsteps as well as touch free sliding doors for the convenience of the passengers. Coach Control Management System for AC monitoring and advanced technology like GSM/GPRS for communication and feedback with control center and maintenance staff. Special toilets for differently-abled passengers, and bio-vacuum toilets with touch-free amenities have been provided for general passengers.
Similarly, for the convenience of visually impaired passengers, the seats have been engraved with Braille script number of seats so that such passengers can reach their seats easily. Not only this, in terms of modern technology, this train has Level-II Safety Integration Certification for better train control management, 4 platform side cameras with rear view cameras outside the coach, aspiration based fire detection and suppression system in all coaches and electrical Better fire safety measures like aerosol based fire detection and suppression systems have been put in place in the cubicles and toilets.
Vande Bharat Express has ushered in a new era of passenger travel in India. This train, built at a cost of only Rs 100 crore, is ready in almost half the cost of an imported train with similar facilities. Keeping in mind the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Make in India’, the major train systems have been designed and manufactured in India. The new Vande Bharat Express running in Gujarat is the third Vande Bharat train in the country. The other two trains are being run between Delhi-Varanasi and New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. As part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations of Azadi, the Prime Minister has set a target of running 75 Vande Bharat trains across the country by August 2023.
