What is Toshekhana case and what does it mean?
The word Toshekhana is related to the Persian language. Which means a place where treasure is kept i.e. Treasure House. In many countries, the term is used for a treasury house, where gifts and honors received by the head of the country are kept. This government treasury is called Toshekhana.
Now let us understand how it is related to Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan. Imran Khan has been accused that he did not deposit the gifts he received from other countries while in the post of Prime Minister, in the Government Toshakhana. They either kept those gifts with them or sold them, which is against the law.
It is a rule in most countries of the world that whatever gifts the Prime Minister receives, it is mandatory to deposit it in the government treasury Toshekhana, but Imran Khan did not do so.
