The central government is preparing extensively to avoid big banking and cyber frauds in the coming days. For this, many changes are being made in the law. Union Telecom and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that in the new Telecommunication Bill 2022, many such provisions have been made, so that common people can be saved from banking fraud.
Know who is calling
Ashwini Vaishnav said that usually when someone’s call comes to us, we do not know who is calling. In the coming days, the central government is asking telecommunication companies to make such a system so that it can be known who is calling you. At present, such information is available through many types of apps. But in the coming days this alternative arrangement will be made official.
Change in KYC rules
Know Your Account or KYC in English is a system in which everyone has to give information about his account to the service provider. The process of KYC is being strengthened even more. If any person gives any kind of misleading or wrong information, then strict legal action will be taken against him.
severe punishment for fraud
Ashwini Vaishnav said that there are some places in the country which have become quite infamous for banking fraud. For this the chain of the whole system needs to be broken. The new telecommunication bill will go a long way in breaking that chain. Along with this, if someone is caught doing such fraud, then strict action will be taken. Right now, if someone is caught under the cyber law, then the punishment is only three years. There is a provision to increase this punishment further.
Social media sites also under siege
Ashwini Vaishnav said that apps like Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram will also be part of the new Telecommunication Bill 2022. The OTT platform will also be subject to the regulator. He said that the conciliation is going on in this matter.
How will the new license process be
Ashwini Vaishnav said that the process of licensing for telecom service, registration for telecom infrastructure, authorization for wireless equipment and (bidding) for spectrum will have to be followed.
one act instead of three
Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Indian Telecom Draft Bill 2022 will now replace the old Indian Telegraph Act 1885, Wireless Telegraph Act and Telegraph Wires Act. The new draft bill has been uploaded on the website for public opinion. It is possible that after all kind of technical process, it will be passed by Parliament next year.
