BJP created many icons and gave national identity.
There has been no dearth of great heroes, fighters and warriors in the history of India. For centuries brave sons have been taking birth in India and have been proving their courage. We Indians know very well about thousands of such heroes. But there have been many such heroes in the country, who got lost somewhere in the darkness of oblivion and not much was told about them. The BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought many such heroes to the fore.
According to the PMO, it has been the endeavor of the Prime Minister that the unsung heroes get due respect. Today, the 400th birth anniversary program of brave warrior Lachit Borphukan is also a part of these efforts. Lachit Borphukan is not the first such hero, whom the BJP has re-established among the Indian public. If seen, in the last few years, BJP has created many such heroes as icons. These include the heroes of the tribal community.
Political experts tell that the objectives behind this include political gain somewhere. 25 assembly seats in Rajasthan, 27 in Gujarat and 47 in Madhya Pradesh are reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Elections are going to be held in all the three states within a year. In such a situation, through association with these icons, BJP wants to connect and keep the tribal voters connected with itself.
Warrior of Assam Lachit Borphukan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the closing ceremony of year-long programs organized on the 400th birth anniversary of the erstwhile Ahom kingdom general and brave warrior Lachit Borphukan. This year many programs were organized in honor of Lachit Bodphukan. The place of Lachit has been important in the history of Assam. Lachit is remembered for his bravery and efficient leadership.
In the battle of Saraighat in 1671, Lachit, the commander of the Ahom kingdom, had shown excellent understanding. An attempt by the Mughal forces led by Ram Singh I to recapture Kamrup in Assam was thwarted. It was Lachit Barphukan who shook the Mughal Empire.
Govind Guru and Mangarh
On November 1, PM Modi went to Mangarh in Rajasthan, which also borders Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Mangarh is the witness of the indomitable courage and unbreakable unity of the Bhil Koyturs. Those Koyturs, who never bowed down to the British Raj, but made the British chew their noses and gram. This unity was formed 109 years ago under the leadership of Govind Guru, who comes from Banjara Samaj, Lambada.
During the movement against the British, the tribals had gathered on Mangarh mountain. Like the Jallianwala Bagh, the British fired bullets here too, in which 1500 tribals were martyred. PM Modi had come to pay homage to these martyrs. Political experts see PM Modi’s visit to Mangadh as an attempt to woo the tribal voters of the three states.
Birsa Munda and Tribal Pride Day
It was a year back. In November 2021, PM Modi reached Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. To unveil a museum in the memory of Birsa Munda. There he announced that Tribal Pride Day will be celebrated on 15 November every year on the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda. Birsa Munda has got the status of ‘God’ among the tribals. He had united the tribals against the British Raj and on the basis of bow and arrow, he had an upper hand on the British with bullets and guns.
gond queen kamalapati
India has been the land of heroes and heroines. Rani Kamlapati was one of these heroines. She was the Gond queen of the 18th century. She was the most beautiful and brave queen among the 7 wives of Nizam Shah, who was the head of Ginnaurgarh at that time. That’s why she was also the favorite of the Nizam. Bari was ruled by Nizam’s nephew Alam Shah. He poisoned his uncle to death and offered Kamalapati to become the queen.
Bahadur Kamalapati was virtuous. She got Alam Shah killed with the help of friend Mohammad Khan and thus avenged the murder of her husband. Last year in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi declared the name of Habibganj station as Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in the tribal pride programme. In this way, he once again established Rani Kamlapati as an icon among the common people.
Tantya Bhil aka Tantya Mama
Tribals hold an important place in the politics of Madhya Pradesh and political parties do not want to miss any opportunity to get their votes. In this effort, BJP took out Gaurav Kalash Yatra in Madhya Pradesh. Inaugurating it from Khandwa district, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in Nimadi dialect, “Un Bakht Tumharo Mamo Tantya Mamo Tho, Na Abhi Hoon Shivraj Mamo Chhe” i.e. Tantya was maternal uncle for your help then, Shivraj is maternal uncle now.
Earlier, former BJP MLA Sangeeta Charel compared PM Modi to Tantya Mama. He said that earlier no one had remembered Tantya Bhil, who is Tantya Mama Bhil, but when the BJP government came, they took steps to awaken the tribals. Tantya Bhil had started saving Jal Jungle land 150 years ago.
Sahibzade Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh
In January this year, PM Modi had made an important announcement on the Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singhji. Announcement to celebrate ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ on 26 December every year on the martyrdom day of two Sahibzads of Guru Gobind Singh. The 10th Guru of Sikhs, Gobind Singhji had four sons. In 1704, Guru Gobind Singh along with the Sikhs were going through the fort of Chamkaur, ripping apart the army of the Mughals. While crossing the Sarsa river, he was separated from his two Sahibzad sons Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh.
Both the Sahibzade were caught. The Nawab of Sirhind asked both of them to convert to Islam, but both the Sahibzads did not accept it. That date was – 26 December 1704, when both of them were elected alive in the wall. In the memory of those two heroes, PM Modi said that in memory of the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singhji and Sahibzada Fateh Singhji, December 26 will be celebrated as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ from this year.
