A big battle can be seen in the coming time in the domestic market of broadband. In fact, Tesla owner Elon Musk has sought approval for Internet business through satellite in India. Bharti Group and Reliance Jio have already entered this segment. In such a situation, there is every possibility that a competition may start between these companies to establish their dominance over this future technology. However, in many ways this collision will be better for the domestic consumers. Because many companies have landed in this technology very effective but expensive for communication, it is expected that this service can also be economical.
What is Musk’s move
Musk’s company SpaceX has sought permission for broadband business in India through satellite. ET, quoting sources, has reported that SpaceX, through its brand Starlink, is preparing to apply to the Department of Telecommunications for a permit for Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite Service (GMPCS). It has to decide its stake in the sector, whose size is estimated to be $ 13 billion by the year 2025.
With this move, it is likely that Musk will challenge Mukesh Ambani and Sunil Bharti Mittal in the market of broadband with satellite service. In fact, in support of Bharti Group, the satellite unit of OneWeb and Reliance Jio Infocomm have already set their eyes on this sector. Both these companies have already applied for permits.
What will be the benefit of this war
Broadband via satellite is a very effective service, it can be given fast internet access in very remote areas. And these areas can be easily connected to cities and other hi-tech systems. Due to which services related to banking to education and health can easily reach here. These services also help in an emergency. However, due to the facility provided through satellite, the services are much more expensive than the normal services. If you look at Starlink’s service itself, then its terminal and one year’s service is above one lakh rupees each.
