Defense Minister Rajnath Singh recently reached Mongolia. Mongolian President Khuralsukh gifted him a horse while on a foreign tour. This is not the first time that an Indian with a high status has been gifted a horse of Mongol breed. The shocking thing is that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh cannot bring this horse found in the gift to India. Why is this so, let’s understand it now also…
The Mongolian horse gifted to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will not be allowed to go to India. It will be considered a symbolic gift. The reason behind this is the law of the Ministry of Environment and Forests which was made in 2005. Under this law, taking and bringing animals as gifts is prohibited. In such a situation, the big question is what will be done to the horse of the Mongol breed found in the gift?
Under this law, the horse cannot be brought to India, so it will be kept in the Indian embassy itself. This is not the first time that this is being done. In 2015, PM Narendra Modi was also gifted a Mongolian horse during his visit there, but according to the rules, it was kept in the Indian Embassy.
It is said that such horses have been bred in Central Asia since 10,000 years ago, but in Mongolia, the beginning of domestication of them started 4 thousand years ago. The business of raising and trading them in Mongolia is growing rapidly. The situation is that in 2020 the population here was 33 lakhs and the number of Mongol breed horses was 30 lakhs. People who keep horse of Mongol breed are considered prosperous here.
Horses also contribute to Mongolia’s economy. This horse is also included in the 5 most things that Mongolia exports to other countries. Statistics show that in 2020, Mongolia has exported horse hair worth Rs 1865 crore and horse meat worth Rs 263 crore. Horse meat and milk of the same species are used in almost every house here.
